This Privacy Policy describes how Posted collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Your name and chosen username
• Email address, provided either directly (if you sign up with email and password) or through Sign in with Apple. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive and store a private relay address provided by Apple instead of your real one.
• A password (stored securely; we never see or store it in plain text), if you sign up with email rather than Sign in with Apple
• Profile photo, if you choose to add one
• Phone number, if you choose to add one for the optional contacts-based friend discovery feature described below

Content You Create

• Photos and captions you post ("fits" and "hauls")
• Comments you leave on posts
• Likes you give to posts and comments
• Your privacy setting (public or private account)

Contacts (Optional)

If you choose to use the "find friends" feature, we access your device's contacts to help you find people you know who already use Posted. We do not store your full contact list — we use it only to match existing users and do not retain contact information for people who aren't Posted users. You can decline this permission and still use the app normally.

Usage and Device Information

• App activity (such as login times, streaks, and general usage patterns) to power features like streak tracking
• Device information and crash logs, used to diagnose and fix technical issues

Information from Other Users

If another user reports content or blocks you, we retain a record of that action to enforce our community guidelines.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Operate and maintain your account
• Show you content from people you follow and enable you to be found by others (unless your account is private)
• Send notifications about likes, comments, follows, and follow requests
• Authenticate you securely, including through Sign in with Apple where applicable
• Investigate reports of abuse and enforce our content and conduct policies, including removing content or restricting accounts when necessary
• Improve the app and fix bugs

We do not sell your personal information.

How We Share Your Information

• With other users: your username, profile photo, and public posts are visible to other users according to your privacy setting. If your account is private, only approved followers can see your posts.
• Service providers: we use third-party infrastructure providers — including Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage) and Expo (app delivery and updates) — to operate the app. These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually restricted from using it for their own purposes.
• Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid legal process.

Content Moderation

Posted includes tools for users to report posts, comments, and other users, and to block accounts they no longer want to interact with. Reported content is reviewed by us, and we may remove content or suspend accounts that violate our community guidelines. Blocking another user prevents mutual visibility between accounts, including posts, comments, likes, and follow relationships.

Your Choices and Rights

• Access and correction: you can view and update most of your profile information directly in the app.
• Account deletion: you can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at [SUPPORT EMAIL]. We will delete your information within [X] days, except where we're required to retain records (for example, active moderation reports involving your account).
• Notifications: you can manage notification preferences in your device settings.
• Blocking and reporting: you can block or report other users at any time from within the app.

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information within 7 days, except where retention is required for legal, security, or moderation purposes (for example, records related to a pending abuse report).

Children's Privacy

Posted is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls on our backend systems. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by other means before the changes take effect.
